Reiki
Rei means universal, Ki means life force energy. The goal is to improve the flow of life force energy to relieve stress and pain as well as to improve overall wellbeing.
Reiki sessions may be done in person or at a distance. Reiki is a very powerful tool for healing from the inside out.
Reiki may be used to relieve pain and stress but may also be used for maintenance to keep health and wellbeing at optimum levels as well as to find energy blockages in the body that may be contributing to physical distress.
In person Reiki sessions include a blend of Reiki, Cranio-Sacral and Touch for Health techniques. Reiki may be used at the beginning or at the end of a Yoga session to help remove blockages for a more balanced physical state.
Benefits: Safe and gentle for children and adults, relieves stress and is calming, promote relaxation, enhances immune system function, increases focus, promotes healing, complements medical treatments, supports individuals going through alcohol or drug treatments, helps coping with chronic pain, requires no belief system, aids in digestion, helps insomnia and creates balanced restorative therapy, and a wonderful stretch for the body.
Contraindications: None
Glen Rein, Ph.D., Director of the Quantum Research Laboratory in New York has said that healers produce a type of energy he calls a quantum field that interacts with the DNA and changes a body's cells. He discovered this using tissue culture and special quantum field generators -- machines which cancel out electromagnetic radiation.
Dr. Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., has shown that the receptors on the cells in our bodies can read energy fields! Energy work now has a place in modern science, and is no longer being seen as something "unexplainable".
Effects of Reiki on Stress:
"Complementary therapies such as Reiki are becoming popular. Reiki is a practice used for relaxation and pain management that involves physical touch and social contact with a trained, empathetic practitioner. Unlike many relaxation therapies, Reiki requires no participation by the patient, a feature that makes Reiki particularly attractive in the hospital setting, where patients are often extremely anxious, depressed, in pain, or sedated." National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), NCT00346671

"Dr Ann Baldwin, PhD is a physiologist (and a Reiki practitioner) who studies emotional and environmental stress, how it increases vulnerability to disease and how its damaging effects might be neutralized. Dr Baldwin has documented the effects of Reiki on Reiki practitioners, measuring changes in blood flow, skin conductance and heart-rate variability."
